Facial Tok Sen
This is not a facial like you would receive from an esthetician or cosmetologist…
During a Tok Sen session, wooden tools are used to gently tap the body, relaxing muscles, improving circulation, and removing energy blockages. promoting healing for both physical and spiritual ailments. The rhythmic tapping creates a percussion sound and soothing vibration which is calming to the parasympathetic nervous system. The tools come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes, including small ones designed for techniques on the face.
Facial Tok Sen not only relaxes the muscles, but it also has many aesthetic benefits.
Tok means "to hammer," while Sen pertains to the energy lines within the body. Therefore, Tok Sen translates to "tapping the energy lines”. The hammer is called “Kon” and the wedge or chisel is called “Lim”. Typically the wooden tools are hand carved from trees that have been struck by lightening, which is said to assist in removing negative energy. This modality originated in the Lanna Kingdom of northern Thailand, and was traditionally used by spiritual healers in shamanic practice, however, today, is used by practitioners all over Thailand as well as other parts of the world to increase relaxation, treat sore muscles, pinched nerves, and release knots or trigger points.
